Filming Safely During The Pandemic
I’m honestly not sure how relevant this is any longer and obviously filmed a while ago, but if required I’m still happy to mask up and wear protective visors and gloves if requested. Equipment is kept scrupulously clean anyway.
I’ve put together a short clip explaining the precautions I’m taking to return to filming while the pandemic continues.
In brief, I’m double vaccinated and also take a lateral flow test every couple of days to make sure I’m not infectious. I won’t work if I test positive until safe to do so again.
All filming equipment is cleaned prior to each shoot and after and equipment and disruption will be kept to a minimum.
The much of my filming is interviews and filming someone speaking to camera about a service. I’m using a mix of wireless lavalier microphones and boom mics. If a client prefers to use a handheld or wired lavalier as smaller, both are available scrupiously clean with new wind shields for each use.
I will wear a mask and gloves and I do have clear perspex face coverings if required but they are not easy to focus through!
Any queries, give me a call.

This is a quick video to talk about how I’m dealing with health and safety issues around COVID. I’m double vaccinated. And I also take a lateral flow test every couple of days to make sure that I’m still COVID-free. And obviously, if I do turn out to be infected, I won’t be filming until I’m clear.
The equipment that I use is all cleaned before and after every shoot. Most of the equipment I use is my own. So I’m very careful to ensure that it stays absolutely clean. If I do hire equipment, the hire companies clean everything before and after every shoot.
I’m mainly self-shooting at the moment so I’m keeping the equipment to a minimum that I bring into any environment. There will be cables for lights and things like that, but I’m using both radio mics, and lavalier, and overhead mics. There’s no reason for anybody to touch any of that equipment. So again, that will help.
I will wear a mask. I will wear surgical gloves to make sure there’s no transmission of anything. I do have to take them off to operate the camera.
And I did try using the clear mask that you can see through, but you can’t focus through them. They put everything completely out. So I’m not currently using those. But I’ve done everything possible to make things as safe as possible. I will leave as much equipment as I can in the car so we only need to bring the minimum through.
Where I’m using a crew they’re operating in exactly the same way. Most will be, I’m sure, double vaccinated by now. And everybody will be taking a test. They will in exactly the same way make sure that equipment is absolutely spotlessly clean. And wear masks and gloves where appropriate.
If you have any queries about this obviously, you can get in touch. But please be assured we’re doing everything possible to ensure your safety and our safety throughout. Thank you.
