Technical Case Study
Eyediology Opticians, London: site migration and technical SEO
This case study concentrates on programming and technical aspects such as load time and channel integration.
We didn’t design the site but we did built to the client’s supplied design and to a specification that would enable them manage themselves and to integrate with their other online businesses and their sophisticated stock control management system.
We also created and integrated a system to display the glasses, including coding multiple 3 dimensional video revolves within categories, which looks rather special.
The site is still live and performing extremely well. This really illustrates what we can do behind the scenes to make a site perform at its best, load fast and get found.
We also put a live a new Magento to WordPress conversion site for Touch Ironmongery in Fulham, where we designed and built the site and then added first 3500 Magento products to the site, then a second 1500 and optimised very successfully for Fulham, Chiswick and London, getting them to the top of every search in London on their key brands.
Update: these sites are no longer with us but are an example of the sort of coding we used to do.
Eyediology Opticians London
Eyediology are a large independent opticians offering a wide variety of eye tests and an extensive range of frames, lenses, sunglasses and contact lenses in store and online.
We were asked to migrate two large, Magento based sites into WordPress. Following this, we were to build a custom Linnworks/Woo-Commerce integration which would merge the websites with their warehouse and databases.
Core to the project was the reduction in website load time from 7 to under 3 seconds in order to aid SEO and enhance user experience. We were also to retain over 1000 existing backlinks from the original sites.
We met both objectives and successfully migrated the site without any loss of SEO ranking, and with increased back links and page authority.
We created a complex site that was easy for the end user to navigate and use. It included a system that managed stock across multiple sites and channels, a facility that allowed customers to build and specify their own glasses, discounts for loyalty based promotions, provision for the taking and storing of customer prescriptions, as well as other features. We incorporated a fast loading video facility that allowed the end user to revolve a selected glasses image to get a three dimensional view.
We included a provision to add SEO terms and product meta across the system. This formed an ideal SEO foundation for the client to build on.
The site has been extremely successful with increasing numbers of site visitors and returning loyal customers leading to increased revenue.
