For quite a few years we’ve been building some pretty complex sites in addition to filming but running as separate ventures.

The programming business grew out of a client request to help get commercials running faster online nearly 20 years ago. We achieved that and then started to take on complex projects to help medium size businesses approach different markets simultaneously, and to communicate with and grow their customer base online.

With the UK leaving the EU, we felt it was time for us to change direction, my programmers wanting to move onto larger, even more complex sites, and I wanted to concentrate on filming again. We stopped marketing the business but kept any client who wanted to stay on just managing their sites.

I, however, found myself with a number of large complex sites to manage for considerably longer than originally envisaged, but over the last few months I have finally passed the last ones over to new developers.

This allows me to finally concentrate on marketing the video business but it also enables me to use the resources I have, coupled with my experience, to produce websites that are geared to video. And possibly more importantly, geared to video SEO and much more affordable.

The ability to run video SEO well is vital as that is the key driver for me, I want the video I shoot to be found and succeed for you and too much video shot, especially in the UK where videoSEO is in it’s infancy compared to the US, disappears without trace. The second aspect of pricing is simply down to the cost of custom coding pricing our older sites usually from £20K to £50K. These new sites can be priced extremely competitively as they use software and content management systems we are familiar with and we are not pushing the boundaries of what is possible, instead we are producing sites that are fast, reliable, secure and designed and built to be found in search. Prices can start from £2000 including well written and researched SEO.

We’ve put together four demo sites using stock video and images to give an idea of what is possible, please note as these are demos and not real businesses, we have only added basic SEO as the aim isn’t to get these found in their own right.

The final post includes two examples of Instagram reels produced for Gabucci in Bath. We normally film a clips for the site each season but this year the weather caused a leak to the store’s front window and we are now shooting our next video in October.

I specialise in AI

As an advertising copywriter I would have considered the threat of AI with amusement and horror in equal measure but as a scriptwriter and researcher I have found it incredibly useful and have put a great deal of time into learning to prompt AI successfully.

I specialise in ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini and as I write this am learning to use SearchGPT next week, and I use as research tools in conjunction with various SEO search tools and Google to find what searches are being made. Together this information gives me a great overview of a sector and how it works, and what consumers are interested in and the queries they make.

The J A Burke site I wrote maybe 5 years ago was easy to produce as I had been filming the directors and site managers for months and already had a strong background in construction. But where I’m not familiar with a sector or have to write about something very specific, the ability to use AI to write something accurate, yes you can prompt it to tell the truth, it won’t necessarily do unless you ask it to, you end up with good information that can form the basis of an article or anything else you are writing.

It is still vital to check everything for accuracy and to rewrite for originality, search engines recognise AI generated content even though they write in natural language, as most is learnt/generated from search content, and they can penalise it.

Use AI properly though and it can save weeks of work and provide the basis of excellent content, and that means it can help me keep my rates very affordable.
