Video codecs and future usage

We wanted to reiterate our policy on reusing footage we shoot and to give a bit more info on the codecs we normally shoot in and cameras we use.

Once the original footage is shot, edited and the project paid for, the origination and any final copies are kept for future use. Any client is welcome to hold their own copies of the footage and we will release copies for future use on request. We’d be happy to re-edit and reuse as required but once the first project is completed we don’t insist you use us further or charge you to release the footage to you.

Where footage includes licensed third party footage, usually stock footage for a library, we make you aware of any licensing agreements and it becomes your responsibility to keep within or extend the agreement, though we would always help with that if required. The same goes for any footage with celebrities or influencers with whom we have a contract for the usage within footage.

We can shoot codecs that suit your requirements and hire in kit to deliver what you need if we don’t keep in house. Generally we shoot 4K and 6K on Panasonic, Blackmagic or Sony cameras and record H264 and H265, Apple Pro Res and Blackmagic Raw.
